Capistrano (I much preferred the name SwitchTower), is an amazing tool that has been hyped by a lot of people. Everytime I saw a little bit of hype, I just thought “Man i’ve gotta give this a try!” but everytime, procrastination ruled as I never made it part of my work flow….
Conscientious Ruby on Rails developer Geoffrey Grosenbach, put together an awesome blueprint for a capistrano deployment task called Shovel. It works for Textdrive with just a tiny bit of configuration, so if you have also been putting off learning capistrano I suggest checking it out.
If you want to know why i like it so much. Imagine getting that Big Red Button feeling every day… albeit without the nuclear weapons, but it still feels great to have such a repetitive, yet important task done by capistrano… my deployment minion.
